Abstract

The development of deep learning methods with generative image Artificial Intelligences (AIs) prompts an understanding of these possibilities as tools in architecture. Thus, focusing on the formation of the academic framework, the following problem question arises: How are research studies that relate generative image Artificial Intelligences and architectural practice being directed? The hypothesis is that there is a growing potential in this correlation, but with a nascent approach to exploring its different applications in the daily lives of these professionals. The general objective is to identify the intellectual production that addresses the use of generative AIs in Architecture and Urbanism to establish an academic-scientific parameter. This applied research, of an exploratory and descriptive nature with a qualitative-quantitative approach, emphasizes recognizing academic trends through bibliometric research. The data collection process was carried out in the first half of 2024. The searches used combinations of up to three descriptors in English and Portuguese, associating the term “architect*” (or “arquitet*”) with other keywords that encompass generative image AIs, totaling 24 combinations applied in the Scopus database, considering its vast temporality. The results point to the relevance of the theme and confirm the suggested hypothesis. This research aims to contribute by providing new perspectives.
